Filly Hatinator

by Dessy Dinata via Flickr

Filly Hatinator is my first old disc recycle project in 2016.
This headpiece base is using an old disc as the main base, which covered with felt that has a matching color with the hazel-brown fabric scrap - the color remind me of a foal in somewhere out-there, that's why I name it Filly Hatinator.
Here, the felt and the fabric for the crown top is already cut according to the old disc size, about one ply fabric and three ply felts. And the fabric also cuts about two inches wide strips for the crown side. Also two pieces of felt tab for the headband loops, super glue, sewing thread and needle.

This is how I make the base.
Start by attachin the right side of each the crown top and the side stripe fabric (Figure 1), and seam sewing it (Figure 2).
Flip the attached fabrics, so the bottom-wrong side of the crown top is facing up, then attach one ply of the felt by sewing it, also the old disc by glueing it with super glue. (Figure 3)
Then attach another felt on top of the old disc, secure it with super glue. (Figure 4)
Fold-in and hem-stitch the edge of the side stripe. (Figure 5)
Attach the last felt which already prepared - by sewn the felt headband loops, secure it with super glue. (Figure 6)

Arrange the decorative ornaments on top of the already covered base, and slide in the Mily Headband into the loops.
Here, I use three organza flowers and four yellowish cream roses for decorate this Filly Hatinator.
